About Search LLC Name
What this site does
Search LLC Name helps you check whether a business name is available in your state before you file to form an LLC. Each state has its own page with that state’s naming rules, filing fees, report deadlines and contact details, and a search box that checks the state’s records.
For 11 states, the search shows matching businesses right on the page. For the others, it opens the state’s official business search.
Where the information comes from
Fees, report deadlines and naming rules come from each state’s business filing office and its statutes. Each state page links to those sources and shows the date we last checked them.
Name search results come straight from state records:

What this site isn’t
- It isn’t a government website, and it isn’t affiliated with any state agency.
- It doesn’t file documents or reserve names. Only the state can do that.
- A clear search isn’t a guarantee. The state decides whether a name is available when it reviews your filing.
- It isn’t legal or tax advice. For questions about your situation, ask the state office or a professional.
